Dave Hole is truly one of the great blues players of any era. With his
unbelievably powerful and unorthodox overhand slide technique and his
energetic live performances, he stands with a very small group of musicians
as the aristocracy of Australian blues.
Having spent more than twenty years playing bars and hotels in his home
city of Perth, broken only occasionally by short tours elsewhere in Australia,
Dave knows the blues of which he sings.
In 1990, after recording and self-publishing his first CD Short Fuse Blues,
Dave sent a copy to Guitar Player magazine, hoping for a review and maybe some
publicity. What he didn't expect was a cover story, nor the contract with
Alligator Records that was offered shortly thereafter.
Now, with multiple albums and both US and European tours to his name, Dave
is a rapidly, and deservedly, rising star.
