Tony Enery was born in East Melbourne in 1948. The only son of four children,
he grew up in the suburbs while still being able to spend part of his
childhood by the sea.
Tony embarked on a career in music in the 1960's, playing bass, guitar and
piano with numerous bands and various sounds. Playing in the 1970's, he
started to travel north, past Broken Hill and into the bush.
Tony started writing his own material in the 1980's and released his first

Tony could be categorised as roots music, not only in the country areas of
Australia but also in urban Australia; his songs telling the story of his
life as an Australian, presenting his life and culture as a man who lived,
worked, married, reproduced and nearly died living life close to the edge.
